Breaking the Insomnia Cycle

I don't know about you but, the first thing to go from my life when I get busy is SLEEP... Cue: Insomnia. Don't get me wrong, I know all the beautiful benefits of having a regular sleep schedule but, sometimes life happens.

I'm currently on a four-day stretch with little to no sleep - Here are my personal go-to's to break the bad habit.

  1. Daily sunlight exposure & grounding: This helps to keep our bodies in sync with the earth and her sleep-wake patterns.

  2. Lemon Balm: This calming and sedative herb is wonderful for settling in and relaxing for a night of rest. It is my personal go-to because I am still moving some grief through my body & because other sedative herbs such as Valerian actually function as a stimulant for me.

  3. Daily exercise: Seems like a no-brainer, doesn't it... If you move some of the extra energy through your body, then you won't be as restless when you get into bed!

  4. Meditation: I don’t care if you pop on a guided meditation, do some deep breathing, or listen to some 432 Hz for deep sleep. Meditation while you're laying there staring at your ceiling can be just as useful as popping some ZzZZzzquil.
